The EVs are:
- Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (2010, 2012, 2014) — PHEV
- Nissan LEAF (2011) — BEV
- Tesla Model S (2013, 2015) — BEV
- Chevrolet Volt (2016, 2017) — PHEV
- Tesla Model 3 (2018-2021) — BEV
Across the 12 years, BEV models held the number one registrations title 7 years, with PHEVs capturing the top spot in 5 years. Tesla was the only automaker to have two different models in the top spot, with the Model S and Model 3 accounting for a combined 6 years. The Tesla Model Y was the number-two selling EV in California in 2021 with 61,022 registrations and could become the top seller in 2022.
