Based on two Tweets from Ford executives and some Excel calculations, an estimated 80,000 units of the Ford Mustang Mach-E could be sold in the US in 2023.

Karl Henkel, a Ford communications executive shared that Ford will produce roughly 65,000 Mach-E EVs in 2021 at its Cuautitlán Assembly plant in Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico. Through November 2021, Ford has sold 24,791 Mach-E units and is on pace to deliver an estimated 27,000-28,000 for the year in the US.

And in a Tweet from Ford CEO Jim Farley, he stated: “So starting in 2022 we are increasing production and expect to reach 200,000+ units per year for North America & Europe by 2023.”

So, plugging in the numbers suggests that US sales in 2021 will account for roughly 43% of global production. If we assume that Ford may increase slightly its allocation to Canada and Europe, US sales in 2023 might account for roughly 40% of global production. And assuming a gradual production increase in 2022 and 2023, Ford would sell an estimated 55,650 Mach-E units in 2022 and 80,000 in 2023.

Of course, supply chain issues, competition, as well as government regulations and incentives in Europe, Canada, and the US may affect how Ford allocates the Mach-E to the different regions.
