For year-to-date (January 1 though May 31, 2023), Tesla has opened 1,893 DC fast charging ports or 58.1% of the total. Tesla’s YTD deployment is 5.4 times ChargePoint’s 350 (10.1%) and 6.5 times EVgo’s 290 (8.9%) DCFC ports installed.

Ratio of New BEVs to Newly Added DC Fast Charging Ports Reached 110 to 1 in 2022 – Third Highest Ratio Since 2011
The ratio of the number of new BEV units sold in the US to the number of newly-added DC fast charger ports increased to 110 to 1 in 2022, from 81 to 1 in 2021. The increase is due to new BEV sales outpacing the rate of newly added DC fast chargers in the US.

At the end of August, the Tesla Supercharger network reached 11,125 DC fast charger ports across the US, accounting for 57.1% of all DCFC ports. With 1,118 locations, however, the Supercharger network accounted for only 20.1% of the total DCFC locations.
7-Eleven Expected to Become the 6th Largest US EV DC Fast Charging Network By the End of 2022
Convenience store chain 7-Eleven recently announced they are going to install at least 500 DC fast charging stations (ports) at 250 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Based on the ratio of DC fast chargers in Canada to the US, we are projecting that 400 of these fast chargers will be installed at approximately 200 7-Eleven stores in the US.
Tesla Dominates DC Fast Charging Connections in the US
While the various fast charging networks continue to grow at a fast clip, the Tesla Supercharger network has maintained its recent dominance at a 54% market share based on number of connections. The Tesla Supercharger network, however, drops to a more earthly level at 22% when based on the number of US locations.
