Automotive Brands By Number of California EV Registrations To Date

Since 1998 when the California DMV began tracking EV registrations, unsurprisingly Tesla has dominated EV sales and through September 30, 2021 the company has accounted for 38.4% of all EV (both BEV and PHEV) registrations.

In fact, Tesla has sold more EVs in California than the next four brands combined (37.6%): Chevrolet (14.0%), Toyota (10.4%), BMW (7.5%), and Nissan (5.7%).
